Policy Perspective – Edgar
The way that I would prevent another civil war in Liberia as the president of that country would be, negotiating directly with the group. In my opinion negotiating Is the best option, because like the people says in my country “Talking the people understand each other” and it is that I would apply to solve this conflict with the rebels although the corruption will increase in Liberia, but I will maintain the peace and that is more important than anything in a country. Also if I use the military force all the plans that I have to improve the situation in the country will be very hard to achieve, for example, the economic and democratic reforms that have been proposed and in addition, the military is not enough prepared, so, I am not sure that I will defeat to the rebels and the peace that hardly has been achieved will be broken because of this fight. In the worst of the cases, if the rebels do not yield after all the negotiations, I would use the military forces, but only as the last resort, when there is nothing else to do against them.
